I love France!

April 17, 2007

Sunday - of course packed!

There was the baptism of Rose, who managed to avoid giving birth in the process.  (!)

Then afterwards we had a church picnic in the beautiful heat next to a river.  It was to say goodbye to Simona, one of my best friends here.  (She was a student and is now going back to Rumania. Sob.)  We had a lovely day!  When all the ‘grown ups’ had gone off for a stroll a big water fight ensued and we were all suitable soaked!

After all that running about we were in need of a refreshing drink so we stopped in the city centre for a beer.  Lovely!  Sat outside in a street cafe, watching the sunset drinking a cold beer!  emoticon

I had cooked for a family of 6 on Saturday night and managed to seriously over provide!  So I was able to invite another ‘family’ of 5 singles to join with me for a late supper.  A very long but very fun day!

It’s the school holidays here so lots of youth around.  Did a half day baptism preparation with 2 girls today.  It was really encouraging to hear them vocalise their growing faith.  Tomorrow I’m spending the day with a young lad who wants to speak English.  We’ll see how it goes!

  1. Bonjour Stacey.

I found your blog and wanted to let you know about the new social network for Francophiles I just launched at www.francophilia.com.

It’s the first social network exclusively for Francophiles. We’ve been online for just over a week and we have 75 members (from 18 to 77) from over 10 different countries. All of them are interesting people who have something to share.

There is something there for everyone. Francophilia’s features include a personal blog, instant messaging with other online members, live discussion room for members, forum discussions, the ability to create special-interest groups, to publish and RSVP to events, to publish classified adds, photo, video and music uploading, and more.

We’re still in beta testing, but we would like to invite you to join us. And please share the news with your Francophile readers and friends!

I look forward to meeting you at Francophilia.
